Another Semster Almost Done!

This last week of the semester is always full of stress and anxiety!  I know I get test anxiety, I think now that it is finals week we all will have it.  The easiest way that I have found to get over this anxiety stricken sickness is to realize at the end of finals you and I have accomplished something that no one else can take away from us, ANOTHER SEMESTER OF COLLEGE!  Some of us are burned out to where we are counting down the days until summer break, some of us are counting down the days until we graduate.  What ever you are counting down for, you made it.  You made it through another semester of college, or you have made it to the finish line and are graduating from college.  So whatever it may be,  Good luck on your finals. Take time to breathe and take time to relax.  Finals will be over before you know it.  So I wish all of you good luck and hope all of you have a wonderful summer.

Tanning goes to a new level of CRAZY!!!

I do not understand what is WRONG with some people these day! All I can say is this woman hit the new level of WHACKO!  To allow or put you 5 year old child in a tanning bed is outrageous, not to mention dangerous!  Little kids are not meant to be in tanning beds.  I tan for about a month a year and that is hard enough on me, much less a little person. Patricia Krentcil who is now known as the N.J. tanning mom or New Jersey's "famous tanorexic" mom, bring tanning to a whole new meaning.  She was arrainged on thursday for allegedly putting her 5 year old little girl in a tanning bed.  She is charged with child endangerment.
This is from the article!
"Court officials say the Nutley mom accused of taking her then-5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth is no longer on probation.
Patricia Krentcil is free on $2,500 bond, charged with child endangerment following her arrest last month in Nutley.
The arrest got the attention of authorities in Camden County. That's where Krentcil was sentenced to five years' probation in 1999 for credit card theft, forgery and theft for writing bad checks. In 2001, a bench warrant was issued for her failure to appear at a probation hearing.
Court officials in Camden County today said her probation had been terminated and she would not be required to appear in court.
Krentcil is due back in court next month to face the allegation of causing skin burns to her daughter."

As a mother, it is our job to make sure our children are safe and taken care of. Not to put them in a tanning bed!

To Blog or not to Blog???

This is my last paper that I submitted to Mrs. Chism about us having to do a blog for our English class.  I hope you all like it!

Like most of us, the very thought of starting a Blog at the beginning of the semester had me stumped.  I had heard about blogs, just had never read one or for that matter wrote one.  For the first two weeks, my blog posts were not showing up. I had no idea what was wrong or what I had done.   This only added to the anxiety of having to do the blog in the first place.  Therefore, I emailed Mrs. Chism I do not know how many times, until her and I finally figured out what I had done wrong.  When we were setting up our blogs at the beginning of the semester, I had gotten side tracked somehow and had set up a blog with my personal email address.  After about two or three days of being completely dumbfounded and not understanding what was going on, I noticed at the top of the blog homepage in all caps my personal email address.  I had set one up also under my student email, which is the one that I had sent to Mrs. Chism.  Yes, I had been doing my blog posts all along, just on the “wrong” blog page.

During this semester, I have learned how writing can be therapeutic. Even if it is not done exactly how it is supposed to be wrote, or in the exact format.  Being able to voice your opinion or thoughts through your blog posts has been a new way for me to open up to more people.  When we starting writing one post a week about something going on in our personal life or something that we were interested in,  I think that with all of us being able to do this, it helped us to know a little more about the person on the other side of the computer.   Being in an online class, we do not know much about the other students in our class, so being able to read their blogs every week, and reading about something or someone in their lives, helps you realize that we are all in the same boat at times. Whether it is a sick child, or a husband driving you crazy, a graduation, a new baby, it makes the class a little more personalized.  You know that you are not alone, and that the other students in your class are going through some of the same things as you might be.  We all have anxiety about writing in some way or another, and with having to do this blog; it has helped me out a lot.

With everything leaning more towards technology today, I think having to do a blog in class will start being the normal thing to have to do as a part of the class.  I know that for me, having to write a blog every week has helped me be more open and creative.  I hope that more classes, especially online classes start having students do blogs.  It helps!
