Snickers Candy Bar going on a Diet

I know shocking! As I was came across this article I was completely amazed! I think that it is crazy

that all we seem to worry about is weight and diets anymore.  I am not skinny or thin by any means,

but I am trying to get back in shape.  I think that it is crazy that Mars will not allow any of their

candybars to be shipped out if they are over 250 calories. Snickers and Twix and any other candy

bars thecompany produces are all going on a diet. This is totally bizarre to me.  But I understand why

they are putting the candy bars on a "diet" due to the fact that Mars signed an agreement with First

Lady Michelle Obama.  According to the agreement, Mars is not the only company that tends to do

thiswith their products.  Kellogg, Pepsi-Co., Coca-Cola and Kraft and a few other companies are

going to be doing this too.  Why you ask?  In the agreement these companies plan to "reduce a

combined 1.5 Trillion calories by 2015."  Wow, that is a ton of calories!

  1. I don't know whether to love this idea or hate it. I like that they are trying to be health conscious because people nowadays are way unhealthy (myself included). However... I love me some chocolate! I don't want them to change my snickers.

    1. I think it is a love/hate idea. I understand that they are wanting to be more health conscious. But I almost have to wonder, what they are going cut out of the Snickers or the other candy bars to make this happen. Kind of scary!!!

  2. I really thought this was kind of ridiculous. Do we really need the first lady and a candy bar company to control our calorie intake. These candy bars have been around for years and I think they are the least of our worries when it comes to weight. It bothers me that what we choose to eat is going to be controlled. Also I have to wonder how much money the candy bar company stands to make as I'm sure the prices will either remain the same or increase as the candy bars get smaller.
